Memories of Ammamma

Memories of Ammamma

Ammamma, it has been a week since you left us, but your presence still lingers in my heart. I vividly remember the last time you smiled at me, with a spark in your eyes and that beautiful smile that only you could have. Every morning, as I sip my tea, I am reminded of your hot coffee and the old gas stove you meticulously cleaned each night before bed. You would add a rice rangoli and prepare that perfect cup of coffee, a ritual that I now hold dear.

Throughout your life, you faced numerous challenges, including living with many medications. Yet, you never let these hardships change who you were, from your choice of sandals to your enduring hairstyle. Everyone knew how much you loved your job in the Airforce but had to resign because of Thatta. Even today, Thatta regrets asking you to leave the career you cherished so much.

You had an incredible ability to command respect and effectively manage people, a skill that was admired by everyone around you. Your love for music was another beautiful aspect of your life. You often listened to songs on your tape-recorder, filling the house with melodies that brought you joy.

Born on December 25th, a day the world celebrates Christmas, you entered this world with a special significance. It is poignant that you departed on Mother's Day, leaving us with a deep sense of loss but also with countless cherished memories.

Your life and the love you shared with us will forever be remembered, Ammamma.
